Common questions

Do I need a registered lease before I apply?

You need to provide proof of accommodation as part of the application, and it must be a lease registered with the Housing Authority. In most cases a registered room lease is sufficient for the Nomad Residence Permit.

How long does the application take?

Initial processing takes up to 30 working days. Once approved, you have 30 days to submit post-approval documents including accommodation proof and health insurance. We recommend starting 4 to 6 months before you plan to relocate.

Can I renew the permit?

Yes. The permit is issued for up to one year and can be extended three times, for a maximum stay of four years.

What does it cost in total?

The application fee is €300 per person and is non-refundable. The residence card costs a further €27.50 per person, payable in person by card when you collect it.

Can my family come with me?

Dependants can be included, and the application fee applies per person. Talk to us about your circumstances and we will confirm what documentation each family member needs.
